Our History

Not Your Average Nurses Foundation is a 501c3 (status pending) public charity that
was co-founded by Alan Beatty BSN RN and Breighane Arbo BSN RN. Alan, a former United States Marine Corps electrical engineer and current RN felt inspired after helping to revolutionize the Maine Veterans Project annual Thanksgiving food drive and helped deliver near 100 turkeys in 2022, providing for the first time, perishable food items to the drive.

In that same year, Alan orchestrated a toy drive to support a local effort for Toys for Tots. This time he wasn’t alone and was joined by his fellow 2021 Husson University BSN graduate, Breighane Arbo. Together they coordinated with 9 locally owned small businesses to fill 5 large moving boxes with toys and raised $350 in one weeks’ time. Feeling he could do more, Alan filed the paperwork to found Not Your Average Nurses Foundation on New Years Eve of 2022.
